The Goings On in Pleasant Grove

No more injuries for a while. Everyone seems to be healing and doing well.

Before Stephanie went back home, we all got together for dinner and then the kids painted T-Shirts (for nightshirts) for themselves and each other.
They had such a good time.

Stephanie went back home on Aug 21, on Vonda's birthday.

Keep On Going

On Monday, Dora sent this picture. Kambree was in the hospital with a broken arm. She and Maclay fell off the coffee table and she lost. She is doing fine, though.

Paul is doing better. His range of motion is getting better and the pain is pretty well gone. His scrapes are healed, too.

Hayden is growing like a weed. He is 5 months old and has 2 teeth. He is a happy baby.

Hayden is helping me with this, and is not happy about it, so I will close and tend to him.

Anniversaries, Birthdays, and Guardian Angels

Today is our 41st anniversary. Hard to believe that it has been that long. We spent last evening with Dora and her family. We celebrated Maclay's birthday (a week late), Paul's dad's birthday was on Friday, and today our anniversary. Both families together. Paul (Skeen) grilled hamburgers and hot dogs. Salads, chips, etc., then birthday cake and ice cream. The kids had a great time together. Especially Jackson and Paul's youngest brother's 2-year-old daughter flooded the bathroom. They somehow got the basin plugged and turned on the water. They had such a good time, but had about an inch of water on the floor when they were discovered. Everyone thought they were outside with the other kids. They were both totally soaked.

Maclay had a great time, but none of my pictures turned out well enough to post.

Hayden will be 5 months tomorrow, and has 2 teeth now. He is growing up so fast. He does not like it when the other boys come up on him fast. He seems to be really afraid.

Another hard to believe is the fact that our oldest will be 40 and our youngest will be 30 within the next 2 weeks. How time flies!!!

While we were traveling to Dora's, Vonda called to update us on the results of yesterday's rodeo. Austin was bucked off both his horse and bull, with no time. Also no time on chute dogging. Melissa knocked over a barrel and had a 5 second penalty. Cody was in 5th place in barrels in his division.
(He finished in 8th place at the end of today, and also 8th in goat tail tying.)

They were on the way to an "Extreme Bull Ride" and Austin was riding.

Part way through dinner, Stephanie came in crying. She had just talked to her mom and found out that Austin had been bucked of the bull and got his head stepped on. His guardian angel was working overtime last night. He had his helmet on and his head is okay.

The helmet was completely destroyed!

Thank goodnes for the the helmet, as it could have been his head.

A bruise on the face and a little shook up for a bit!

After everyone calmed down, we got a better report. He covered his first bull and got pretty high points. The second ride was the disastrous one. But he took overall 2nd place and got a check for $1500.00. We know what part of it will go for - a new helmet.

I think the guardian angels for all by grandsons are working overtime. From midnight walks to climbing, to rodeo. Even Hayden and his problems the first few days of his life.

The Happenings and Misfortunes

What a crazy week, and it is only Tuesday.
Over the weekend Dora and Jennie and their friends had their yearly weekend at Bear Lake. They had a really good time. Jennie said Hayden was not a happy camper, and she thought maybe he was just out of his element. Last night she discovered a tooth. He is not quite 5 months old, and already a tooth and out of his sleepers. She has been using the kind with feet, and his toes are curling up. He is growing like a weed.
Maclay turned 2 on Thursday last week. Because of all the comings and goings at their house, his party will be a little late. We will celebrate this weekend with them.
The dog next door, that would not ignore Ryan in the dark (a couple of posts ago), has been sick. They think kids across the fence have been feeding her stuff she should not eat. Anyway, $3,000.00 in vet bills. That is crazy, because you can't get health insurance for your pets.
Last night Paul tripped over a tent tie-down, while taking down the tent. He went down hard, landing on the raised garden. He scrapped up his elbow on the railroad ties, but dislocated his shoulder. 3 hours in the ED, after spending an 8 hour day there working, is not my idea of a fun evening. He is doing okay today. Did not even take any of the pain pills they gave him. He can't lift, so is taking a couple of days off work. Marian worked for him this morning, and someone else will cover tomorrow. We hope he can go in on Thursday. His elbow hurts worse than the shoulder. I will keep the bandages on until tomorrow, then look at it. He is in a sling and swathe for a few days. What a freaky accident.
I got a little wading pool for the boys, but they cried because the water was too cold. This morning, while I was tending them, I let them re-fill it. It was their ideas to get into the water, and it was probably colder than on Saturday. They had a blast.
I may end up putting this blog as private. There has been a story on the news, where a lady was told that her baby's picture was being used as an adoption picture. The supposed place was somewhere overseas. She looked it up, and it was a picture she had posted on her blog. She e-mailed the address to ask about the adoption and the baby, and was told it would cost her $3,000.00 for information. SCARY!!!
Well, I have to go to the pharmacy, so better close for now. Happy August.
