Boogety boogety boys, let's go racin

Yesterday afternoon, as I was watching the news, Ryan brought some of his cars in, turned them upsidedown, and told me "Shhh, the cars asleep", and sure enough, they were.

After the news, I did not change the channel, as I was working on my quilt. Nascar races were on from Phoenix. Next thing I knew, the cars on the floor were lined up for a race, and the newspaper was the green flag. We had our own Nascar on the floor. As he watched the race, Ryan kept asking where the wrecks were. It was not long until we saw some.

Vonda sent me this picture. Austin took 1st place in bull riding at the Mt Vernon High School Rodeo a week ago. There neighbor put it up on his sign board where he sells animal food.
When I talked to Cody for his birthday, he told me he is going to ride steers this year in Jr Rodeo. Also, steer daubing, calf roping, and something else that I don't remember. Austin will still participate in Jr Rodeo when there is not a High School rodeo or a Pro rodeo that are at the same time. He is missing one HS rodeo next month, as it is Cody's 1st rodeo to ride steers. He wants to be there to help him get mounted, etc.

Easter at our house

Interactive holidays are so fun with the little boys. Here they are, ready to go out and hunt for easter eggs. Marian had them spread out on the lawn and then we took them out to gather them.
Ryan is getting right into the job at hand
And Jackson is too.
They were so excited. They got toys, candy, and money in their eggs.
The boys with Mom
Easter Morning
Ryan is not much of a sweets kid. He tasted the jellybeans, licked off the coating and put them back in the bowl. What a sticky mess, but he had fun scooping them with the icecream scoops.
I left for Blanding right after these pictures were taken. I stopped in Altamont and picked up my mother and took her with me. We went to my sister, Dorine's and worked on getting my heritage quilt quilted. We worked about 2 1/2 days on it and got mostly done. I have the rest to finish at home. I got home Wed. night. It was fun to spend time with them.
Jennie and Jeff left about the same time for Denver, where Jeff went for his final session of practical labs (embalming) for his schooling. He will be done with school next month, then will do his internship at the mortuary where he works and will be ready to take his boards in October or November. It has been a long haul, but he is so glad he has done it. He is also excited to be nearly done. Hayden really did well on the trip. They drove, so he was in his car seat for many hours. Jennie said she was glad he did so well. They will be home today.
Cody turned 10 yesterday. They are growing up so fast!!!

The pictures

Now that was strange. This time they uploaded.
Jackson, Ryan, and Maclay at the goat pen
Ryan in the background, Kylie got a bigger horse.
Jackson
Ryan in the front, Maclay in the back. Did not dare get any further away from Jackson. He was too brave and kept letting go of the saddle horn.
Kylie, Jennie, Hayden, Maclay, Jackson, Marian, & Ryan

The battery on my camera died, so these are from my cell phone
Hayden - just as big as anyone
Ryan milking the cow
Kylie milking the cow
Maclay petting the baby goat

The Weekend

This weekend Jennie had Maclay and Kylie. Kelsey and Kambree had a dance competition in Ogden. Kambree's team took 1st place in their division. Kelsey's team had 1 1st place and 2 2nd place placements. Dora said they competed against 2 teams from Pleasant Grove.
Jennie came over and cut Ryan and Jackson's hair, then we went to the Farm at Thanksgiving Point. The kids got to feed some of the animals and ride the horses. They had a good time.
The computer says the pictures downloaded, but nothing shows up on my screen. I will post and see if the pictures post too.

Hayden is 1 year old!

Happy St Patrick's Day

Hayden turned 1 on March 10. He weighs 24 lb and is 30 in. tall. He is taking a few steps and has a mouth full of teeth. He has 4 front teeth, top and bottom, and his last molar has popped through, making 12 teeth in all. The last 2 are just shiny while spots on his gums, but they are definitely there. He has had and upper respiratory virus and an ear infection, but is doing great.

Above and below, opening presents. He got lots of toys and clothes.

But from Dad, a tricycle

Te next day Jennie found him standing on a chair. He had used the bike as a step stool and climbed up on a dining room chair.

Our grandkids have their own cake for their 1st birthday. We call it a "smash cake". Some of the grandkids dig in and others don't like the sticky frosting, having their hands and faces dirty, or the frosting is too sweet.

Hayden dug right in!

And it was "smashed"!

And stuffed in his mouth!

With frosting all over his hands, face, and chest.

After getting so sticky, he had a bath and was a very cute, clean baby, ready for bed.

He loved the bag that he got some presents in. Jennie said she could hear him laughing, and found him in the gift bag.
On Saturday we all went to Dora's house to tie a quilt. These 2 pictures are all of our Utah grandkids.
Kelsey and Hayden above, and below:
Kylie, Maclay, Ryan (with the airplane), Jackson, and Kambree.

This is Hayden walking this morning.
We went for a walk around the block (3 times around). Ryan pushed the stroller the whole way. By the 3rd circle, he did a pretty good job of keeping it going straight. He ran off the sidewalk a couple of times, while looking at an airplane up in the sky.
Our Washington grandkids are doing well, too. Cody took 2nd place in the wrestling tournament. He is quite athletic, and plays most sports. Little league baseball and football are his spring and fall games. He is getting big enough to ride steers in the rodeos. I think he has even been on a small bull or two.
Austin is getting ready for spring High School rodeo season to start, and plans to ride bulls in the Pro rodeos.

As for the rest of us, we are doing good. We have all had colds and coughs, but are all doing better today.

And so on.....

In all my bragging about the little boys, I forgot to brag about the big ones.
Austin made it to the 3A State (Washington) Wrestling finals. He lost out on the 1st day, though.
He is planning to bull ride again this spring. He will be doing some Pro riding, as well as High School and Jr Rodeo.
Stephanie and Melissa were in a talent show for a church youth activity over the last weekend. Melissa is head cheer leader at the middle school.
Cody has done really well at PeeWee wrestling. He is pretty athletic, and has Austin to "help" him out with his moves and pins.
Kelsey is just about ready to start with the spring dance competitions. She is getting to be so tall. She has always looked so much like Dora, but as she gets older, I see a lot of her grandmother Skeen in her. Some of her expressions, and especially her body shape.
Kylie loves to ice skate. She has chosen it over dance the past 2 years.
Kambree is wanting to go to Kindergarten so bad. It is hard to have a January BD and have to wait clear until August to start!
Jennie sent this to me this morning. This is Hayden at Day Care. I can't believe he will be a year old next week. He has been cutting more teeth. He has 10 or 11 now. All four of his front teeth are in and a couple of his molars. He has had a hard time this week, but is doing better.
Marian got helmets for the boys to ride their bikes this summer. Ryan is helping Jackson put his on. Everyone need a big brother, huh?

I LOVE 3-year olds

3 is such a fun age. Between the "why" questions are the "What happened?" and "What is _____ (Mickey, McQeen, Jackson, Hayden, etc.) doing? Personality traits are becoming more apparent. Imagination runs rampant!!!
Here the dogs are being fed crackers. (2-year old copy what 3-year olds do)
Daily cars, shoes, silverware, or whatever is lined up in a row.
These horses gallop across the floor. They also make horse sounds.
I just never know what he will do next!!!
