Oops, Typo

I checked the spacing, but not the content this time. Hayden is 4 months old today, not 5. He is growing up too fast as it is, without Grandma adding months to his age.

The kids keep growing and we keep busy!

Over the past couple of weeks we have managed to keep busy. We had a lot of rain in June, so the weather stayed cool. It has not rained for 6 days, but it is HOT. The lawn, garden and flowers show it.
We went to the temple openhouse at the new Oquirrh Mountain Temple in So. Jordan. The boys loved going up and down the stairs, but did not like sitting still. It is beautiful. That same day our oldest granddaughter, Stephanie came to spend the summer with Jennie and Jeff, to tend the baby. He LOVES her.
Hayden is now 5 months old. He weighs about 15 lbs. He laughs and interacts so cute. Ryan and Jackson LOVE him.
Jennie came last Saturday and cut the boys hair. Ryan does not like that being done, and cries and wiggles throughout. Jackson is much more mellow, and deals with it pretty well. By the end, though, he is ready to be done. We gave him a buzz this time, because he has so much hair and it is so hot.
With the change in weather, we have all got colds or allergies, or both. Hayden has a cough, and Ryan has a worse cough. Marian took him to the Dr. and he was diagnosed with Asthma. Until we get it under control he has a nebulized breathing treatment every four hours, while awake. The other night, when Marian was at work, I got out the machine, and he looked at it, said, "Oh No." and ran and hid behind the table. Once we got it started, he was good. The mask has a creature face, so he is a monster. That is good, though, as he breaths deep and gets the medicine down deep. (See the picture below)
We are busy getting ready for the trek. We had to have the brakes on the motor home re-done. The right front brake kept locking up. Tonight I have to go through our 1st aid kit and see what we still have, and what needs to be replaced. We have a meeting with the rest of the staff on Sunday, so I need to know where we are with everything, since we are in charge. We still have to find the radios. We have a base station, which should help with the transmissions. I am leaving that part to Paul.
Sweet Baby Hayden

Hayden and Stephanie

The boys can be so cute with each other and then fighting over the toys.

Ryan's new summer haircut. He HATES to have it done.

Jackson's summer haircut. He is good about getting his hair cut. He really looks a lot more like Ryan with it short.

Ryan hates to have his breathing treatments, but once we get started, he is very cooperative.

Jackson is such a climber. He will use anything as a step-stool This is a ball he is standing on.

This one he just scaled the front of the cupboard. For some reason, he turns on the hot water instead of the cold. SCARY.

Extra lines and computer assistance.

Sorry, I did not realize the long space at the end of last night's posting. I had so much help putting it together. Ryan and Jackson were right there, helping me. Ryan is learning his letters, and he would say "Whe (where) Q?" then push it and say "De tis"(there it is). Then on to A, R, S, O, etc. I am glad I got all of those erased before I posted, but did not get the spaces erased.
At least he is starting to talk. Jackson does not say as much, but he is starting to verbalize more, now that Ryan is talking in sentences now.

The Travels and adventures of the past week, etc.

This is Kylie's baptism on May 30.

On Thursday, June 18, Jennie and I flew to Seattle for Cody's baptism. His grandpa Wright did the honors.

After the baptism, Cody's class had their end of school program. He had a speaking part.

They had a rodeo on the weekend, and since we could not stay, Cody modeled his new clothes.

We took Jackson & Hayden with us.

We had to be back for my Fire Department retirement on Saturday. Here is the presentation of the Distinguished Service Medal by the Fire Chief, Marc Sanderson. On the other side of me is the Deputy Chief, Dave Thomas, who read the presentation paper.

My Fire Statue, because they don't have an EMT statue, Distinguished Service Medal, and the flag that has been flying over the Fire Station in Pleasant Grove.

Back at home with the little boys, Jackson, Ryan, & Maclay behind our front door.

Sunday was Father's Day and Paul's Birthday, but we celebrated on Saturday while the kids were here.
Monday was back to work being a real nurse for my once a week shift.
Tuesday Hayden spent the day with me at work. I had just paperwork to do, and he slept most of the day, so was not a problem.
Today and tomorrow I have been coordinating and teaching an ACLS class (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).
Friday we are going to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple openhouse. We are excited about that.
So, thus goes the life at the Topham House.

Another week gone by.

Last week I had a wonderful time at our "Dorinda" quilt retreat. If any of you have followed that blog, Deana has posted some pictures. It was great to get together and visit and sew. Virgil thought we were nuts, I am sure, but we fed him good, and he did not complain.
I have some more pictures to post, but can't get the program to work, so will do that later.
We went to our Trek meeting on Sunday evening and we have more miles and more kids to deal with than 4 years ago. One nice thing is that we have a paramedic who has recently moved into our stake who has been on 4 treks in the past and has some really good ideas. He will be a real asset to us. We have a dentist, 2 nurses and an EMT besides him, so we have a pretty good compliment of medical help.
We told the adults that the main rules were that they had to make sure the kids drink plenty of water and wear a hat. They have to be the water Nazis. Those kids get dehydrated and life is worse than having to go to the bathroom. That seems to be the main reason the girls don't want to drink, because there are not a lot of "rest stops". The Wyoming flat lands have sage brush and WIND, so it becomes a necessity to drink plenty of water.
This week is another crazy one. I have 2 meetings tonight, and Paul has 1. And they fall at the same time. Tomorrow night is the same, but Marian has tomorrow off, so she will be home with the kids. That helps.
I will try later to post the pictures, so until then--have a good week.

One wounded boy

On Memorial Day morning, I woke to Jackson crying. We ended up in the Emergency Department and hour before my scheduled shift. Marian had already gone to work.

We stopped at Hart's to show Marian her wounded and repaired baby. He did very well. Only cried when we infiltrated the wound, and when we held him down.
The stitches are out now, and he is doing fine. He cried just as hard as when we held him to put them in.

Kylie turned 8 on the 25th, and was baptized on Saturday. I left my camera at home, but took these on my cell phone. We had lunch and birthday cake after the baptism. She is growing up too fast. They all are!
Other things in our life: We had to buy a new lawn mower. The old one is beyond repair, and we nearly had to borrow a horse or cow to mow the lawn, it was getting so long. Now the grass looks good again.
Paul and I have been asked to go on the Pioneer Trek again. It is to Martin's Cove in Wyoming. We will lead the medical team and take the motorhome, so we don't have to pull/push handcarts or sleep in tents. We had a good time when we went 4 years ago. This will be an entirly new group of kids. The youngest group from then just graduated from highschool, and very few of them will be going. We will be gone over the week of July 24.
