For Marian's birthday and our anniversary, we were able to go see the traveling Broadway show of The Lion King at the Capital Theater in Salt Lake City. It was a wonderful production. We all thoroughly enjoyed the show.
This past week I have had the opportunity to spend time with my sisters Marie and Dorine, and our cousin Lyn and her daughter Deana. For the past few years, Marie, Deana, and Lyn have been making quilts together. 2 years ago I joined them and we made a project of making replicas of one of the quilts that our 3rd great-grandmother had made in the 1890's. Last week we made a trek to Southern Utah to visit the place where Dorinda spent the last years of her life. Dorine and her husband Gary joined us for a part of the time. We left on Wednesday morning, stopping in Cove Fort to pick up Lyn and Deana. We arrived in St. George in early afternoon and went to several quilting stores in the area. BEAUTIFUL fabric, with all sorts of ideas for quilts. I only got what I needed to finish 3 quilts that I have started. Deana did the same. Marie and Lyn bought fabric for new projects. We had such a fun time being together and helping each other to choose fabric and pattern. Good Times!!!
Wednesday evening we met up with Dorine and Gary at the St. George Temple and went through a session together. We also had dinner together.
Thursday morning we drove to Pine Valley and toured the historic chapel there. Dorinda attended church in the lower level of the church. The upper chapel was not completed until after her death.
Here are Lyn, Marie, Me, Deana, and Dorine in front of a display to honor Dorinda. This display is on the stage of the upper chapel. Dorinda was the 2nd Relief Society President there, and held the calling for some 20n years.
This is the box that Dorinda brought from Texas when her family moved to Zion. It was her quilt box, but she donated it to the ward and stored the Relief Society quilting supplies. It sits on the floor, next to the tribute in the pictures above and below.
The picture of the quilt in the upper left corner of the tribute is the one we made our replicas of.
Gary was our photographer. We really appreciate him being willing to do this for us.

We had lunch together in Pine Valley, then Dorine and Gary left for home. The rest of us traveled to Cedar City, where we went to the Shakespearian Festival, seeing the Merchant of Venice. What an enjoyable time we had. The play was really fun.
Then we came home on Friday.
Now, for updates on the grandkids. My favorite topic.
Austin is in 1st place in bull riding and 2nd place in Bareback Broncs in Junior Rodeo. This is his last year to participate at this level. He is doing some Pro Rodeo, and will continue on with that. He is looking at a school in Arizona to further his education, but he is planning to work for a year before going on.
Cody is riding Jr Bulls this year. So far he has only covered 1 ride. It is enough to get him into the finals, though.
Melissa is barrel racing. She is doing better as the season has given her a lot of opportunities.
Stephanie has been here in Utah since the 3rd week in June. She has been tending Hayden while Jennie works. She will go home on Wednesday. We had a farewell party last night. She is here, with Kelsey and Kambree. Kelsey starts Jr. High School tomorrow, and Kambree starts kindergarten. They are both SOOOO excited.

Jeff is getting ready to take his board exams to be a funeral director. He is scheduled for Wednesday. He is pretty nervous about the test. The rest of us are sure he will do well.
